We can address the growing refugee crisis by extending friendship and help to our new neighbors, displaced by war and hardship.

WHO WE ARE

Our group began at the grassroots, with a handful of neighbors: those who volunteered in refugee camps in Europe, others who teach human rights and those who simply believe in solidarity with people in need. Since we started our weekly vigil in Summer 2016, we have been collaborating with individuals and organizations to speak out for refugees abroad and provide support for those resettled here in New Jersey.

Our goal is to provide a friendly presence, act as cultural liaisons, and make a difference for human rights by aiding families who have survived the worst forms of inhumanity.

WHAT WE DO

As a number of non-profit organizations take on the brunt of resettlement services, our group works to fundraise, advocate for change and provide unique services for resettled refugees, like free English tutoring at home. We work with other human rights organizations, faith groups and members of the local Syrian community. What started as a few people holding a banner once a week has become a center for outreach, organizing and connecting.

The most important resource we have is the willingness to help; all talents, materials, work, and connections can be put to good use as long as we remain determined to help people in need and make a difference.
